What We Did is our weekly roundup of photos that WDDI staff and readers have taken over the past seven days. We've got a handful of images from the past seven days of life in Denton, TX. And what a week it was. Saturday, alone, was Doctor Who Day, The DIME Store's 2nd birthday, and the opening of the Community Market for this year. And that was just Saturday! Once again, we did go a little bit beyond our self-imposed 20 photos per post rule with this one, but just because there were so many good ones.

Seen and Heard is our weekly look into family-friendly activities in Denton. This weekend is looking to be a beautiful one. Are you as EGG-cited as we are about this weekend? TxDOT TO INSTALL BACK IN ANGLE PARKING ON 35E

With the recent, unheralded success of the back-in angled parking on Hickory St., the city is looking to expand the experiment to other areas of town. One area in town that only has parking needs at certain times is by Apogee Stadium near the 35E and 35W junction. That area is where the city is currently looking to install back-in angled parking to alleviate parking issues at UNT football games.

LOCAL BAR RENAMED STEVE HARVEY'S HOUSE AFTER INVESTMENT

Author, game show host, and comedian Steve Harvey is investing in Denton's newest venue, Harvest House. The 58 year old actor is no stranger to Denton. Harvey, who has called various areas of DFW home at different times, found the bar/venue in Denton to be what he called both "awesome" and "manly." Harvest House, which started as a house show venue opened during this year's 35 Denton event and has since been embraced by the Denton community and packed to the gills every weekend night.

This week marks the launch of the city council campaign season and we’ve been busy attending events like the Denia Neighborhood Forum and Kevin Roden’s Campaign Launch party. If you haven’t been paying attention, it’s time to hit up VoteDenton.Org and check out the candidates and find out district you're in (if you don't already know). Your single vote (out of roughly 1,200 in a district seat race), is the most powerful vote you’ll cast in comparison to state or national elections. At any rate, get involved and get active in the future of your city. This election is another important one. As usual, we’ve picked out ten events we think you should attend this week. Get out there, snap some grams and hashtag #WDDI to get featured in our Monday’s, What We Did post.

HOW TO PARK ON HICKORY ST. WITH JOEY HAWKINS (VIDEO)

Hickory St. has recently made the change to back in angle parking and many Denton citizens are having a few issues with it. We first reported on the change way back in July of 2013. At the time, many were excited about the additional parking and safety measures that the adjustment would bring about. That said, since Hickory St. has reopened, many have been having difficulty parking in this fashion and about 25% of people haven't been doing it at all. We reached out to city council district 4 representative, Joey Hawkins, to see if he could teach us how to back in angle park.

BACK IN THE DAY: GREAT WOMEN IN DENTON HISTORY

Women’s History Month always reminds us how many incredible ladies have played key roles in Denton’s past, which maybe explains why that trend has continued ever since. We all know that Texas Woman’s University (est. 1901 as a successful lobbying effort by women) was the first of its kind in the state and still today the largest university primarily for women in the United States. Yet there’s always been something unique about Denton women. A few of our favorite true-life tales to share with y’all include a scandalous expulsion, an internationally-famous movie star, and that time Denton ladies saved the whole durn town from being burned flat to the ground.

SEEN AND HEARD: MARCH 27TH 2015

Seen and Heard is our weekly look into family-friendly activities in Denton. This weekend is looking to be a beautiful one. There's plenty going on and it is finally starting to look like springtime in Denton again! Get outside and enjoy it. There's even a fun, new kid-friendly venue named Harvest House in town (complete with bocce ball). Below are a few family-friendly events going on this weekend.

Friday, March 27th

Arts All Night | Center for Visual Arts | Children Free | 6pm-9am

Live music, films, children’s activities, local flavors, yoga, ghost stories and much more await this fun-filled all-night fundraiser for the Greater Denton Arts Council. A suggested donation of $10 gets you all this and more.

Saturday, March 28th

Great American Cleanup | Civic Center | Free | 9am

Show your kids why Denton is so awesome by teaching them to keep it beautiful. Sign up by calling 940-349-8738. After the cleanup, stay for the party, activities and lunch provided by local merchants and service providers. It’s good clean fun (see what we did there?)

Eggstravaganza | First United Methodist Church | Free | 10am-12pm

From pancakes and a petting zoo, to arts and crafts, this fun event will get you in the Easter spirit. Pictures with the Easter Bunny are also free!

Easter Pet Pics | Calloway’s Nursery | $10 | 1-3pm

Bring your kids AND your pets to this fundraiser for the Denton Humane Society. Costumes will be available, but feel free to strap a bonnet onto poor old Muffin yourself if you’d rather.

Sunday, March 29th

An Afternoon with Sam Houston | First United Methodist Church | $15 | 2pm

Come listen and watch as history comes alive with this presentation by “Sam Houston.” Proceed benefit youth ministries mission trips. Come and take it!
