Hickory St. has recently made the change to back in angle parking and many Denton citizens are having a few issues with it. We first reported on the change way back in July of 2013. At the time, many were excited about the additional parking and safety measures (especially for bikers) that the adjustment would bring about. That said, since Hickory St. has reopened, many have been having difficulty parking in this fashion and about 25% of people haven't been doing it at all. We reached out to city council district 4 representative, Joey Hawkins, to see if he could teach us how to back in angle park.
Next time you want to park on Hickory St., keep these four simple steps in mind:
- Signal a right turn to warn other drivers.
- Pull past the parking spot and stop.
- Reverse and turn into the parking spot.
- Celebrate accordingly.
If you're still having trouble back in angle parking on Hickory St. don't fret. There are several other streets and parking spots both in and around the Denton square that have got ya covered, or just drive to the MedPark DCTA station, park in one of the multitude of spaces available, and take the train in to town. It should only take about twenty extra minutes, tops.
