Have y’all checked out the new bike shop in town? Velo Republic Bicycle Co. & Service Station over on Fort Worth Drive had their grand opening earlier this month and we got to speak with the shops general manager, Nic Bagherpour.
The bike shop formerly known as The Bicycle and Run Path closed their doors and sold to local business owner, Gabe Aguilar. The space has reopened as Velo Republic Bicycle Co. & Service Station, and the staff looks forward to serving the community of Denton.
Bagherpour spoke with us about his favorite places to ride in Denton, his involvement in the biking community, and the amazing service we can expect from Velo Republic.

The coffee game in Denton has drastically changed in the past two years. Seven Mile Coffee started the shift to third-wave coffee almost three years ago (if we're ignoring The Hydrant), but since then, the local coffee scene has expanded in size almost exponentially with Shift, West Oak Coffee Bar, Big Mike's, Cultivar, The Whitehouse, and even a few more opening shop in town. Having so many options can be a little stressful - especially if you're the type who doesn't just pick and spot and stick with it. All of the new shops have their own specific strengths. Below, we've got a bit of a Choose Your Own Adventure tour of the Denton coffee scene in the spring of 2015, let's get to it. Also, anybody remember Cappuccino Cafe?

Each month we catch up with the DIME Store to hear them brag about one of their many local makers whose products they sell in their store on South Locust. This month's subject was Amy K. Nalley, maker of stuffed bacon. Yes, bacon plushies. She makes other stuff, too, though. Read her interview to get the full scoop on her awesome handcrafted goods.

We sat down with Aaron Newquist of First State Bank and chatted about Taste of North Texas, the amazingly gluttonous fundraising event that he helps run for Denton Kiwanis Club. We’ve heard about this one for years (26 to be exact) but we haven't really ever known what it was or why it even happened. Turns out, this is another little slice of Denton that you can literally eat your way through. Check out how you can sample food from the likes of Oak St. Draft House, Mellow Mushroom, Beth Marie's Kolache Haven, La Milpa, Nothing Bundt Cakes and lots more for one low price in our interview with Newquist.

35 Denton made its triumphant return to form last weekend. Many were doubtful that the festival could re-capture the madcap, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants magic that permeated previous years, but it turned out that 2014 was more of a cocoon than a year off. 35 Denton 2015 was a beast of a different nature. Save for a few, the bands on this year's schedule weren't the Pitchfork Best New Music darlings as they had been in the past, but it turned out that didn't really matter. All you really need to do in Denton to have a good festival is bring some good music, some fun activities, and get people together. We sure had a great time.
While this year's slogan was "Back to the music," we really enjoyed all of the other activities that 35 Denton incorporated this year such as yoga, multiple photographic events, and an art show. We really enjoyed the slightly new direction of the festival and were very impressed by the cast and crew working behind-the-scenes. Read on for photos from the festival including both ours and yours and some images from our Instawalk.

Yeah, we know. What We Did is late this week. Better late than never, thought, right? We all needed a bit of a cool down from that excellent weekend (plus, Spring Break and dislocated shoulders from falling have had us away from the computer for a bit). Anyway, this is one of those times in which we have to split What We Did up into two separate posts. We'll have another post up later today with images from 35 Denton.
Last week was a busy one in Denton, TX. Aside from the festing, we also had the opening of Harvest House which turned out to be amazing. Have y'all had a chance to check the space out yet? We did, and even thought the owner did that whole hold-his-finger-in-front-of-your-face-while-he-answers-his-phone thing to us, we still loved the place.

As always, don't forget to tag your pics with #WDDI while you're hustling and bustling the rest of the holiday season to make sure your pics wind up right here in our weekend round up!
