OAKTOPIA 2016 ADDS BEIRUT, CAT POWER, AND MORE
The fact that Oaktopia autocorrects to "octopi" is no longer our favorite thing about the local music festival. A few weeks ago, they gave us our first preview of what this year's festival would look like. They dropped names like Dr. Dog, Wavves, Nikki Lane, White Denim, Best Coast, Andrew WK, Mates of State, and Grandpa vs Prowler (Danny Masterson and Michael Pena) and promised the second announcement would up the ante. Somehow the 4th of July always feels like a halfway point. Even though the Summer Equinox was a week ago, it’s like we’re halfway through summer already. The heat may keep up delerious, but it sure keeps us busy and having fun. The days are racing by and before we know it we’ll be dusting off our lawn chairs and getting ready for fireworks at Apogee Stadium. Summertime in Texas can sure get hotter’n a boiling hot tub in Hades’ back-forty, which makes Netflix and a working AC unit sound pretty dang attractive.
