Looks like Denton will play host to multiple people from the "view askewniverse" this fall. Indie film and comic-nerd legend Kevin Smith is coming to Denton Saturday, September 17th at the UNT's Murchison Performing Arts Center for An Evening With Kevin Smith: The Art of Comics. Read on for more info.
An Evening With Kevin Smith: The Art of Comics is being put on by the Greater Denton Arts Council and will be happening concurrently with their event, Heroes in the Making: The Art of Comic Production. The latter will be on display at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center in Denton from September 16th - December 10th.
Smith is buddy to Jason Lee and the creator of cult-fave movies such as Clerks, Mallrats, Red State, Dogma and much more. Smith, himself, has quite the history with comic books. Aside from hosting the AMC reality show, Comic Book Men, he also owns his own comic book store, Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash, in Red Oak, New Jersey.
We're pretty pumped about both of these events and Smith's new movie, Yoga Hosers. You can check out the super weird trailer for that here. Or, if you' wanna get super-prepped for the event, listen to his podcast network, SModcast. Tickets for “An Evening With Kevin Smith: The Art of Comics” can be purchased in advance through PreKindle. Keep up to date with this September event at GDAC's Facebook page for it here. Until then, snoochie boochies, y'all.
