3 Songs is a monthly music column where we highlight a few tunes from local bands we're digging at the moment . We don't know about y'all, but with winter dragging on and the cold keeping us from making it out to local shows, we find ourselves longing for sunny days, warm weather, and those sweaty, sweaty house shows. The Lion's Den couldn’t have made their final show any better than Saturday night’s expo featuring a slew of stellar female-fronted rock bands from across the Lone Star State.
The illustrious house venue has had a long history of throwing shows even before its current tenant, Blake Boyd started hosting in February of 2015. “I've heard stories and seen footage of bands playing here years ago, which is why I'm confident it'll continue on - It's always been around," Boyd said. he's moving on, but looks forward to hosting more shows in a new location around town.

If you know anything about Denton musicians, you probably know that Daniel Markham has been incredibly influenced by the late David Bowie. Bowie passed away at age 69 earlier this week after an 18 month battle with cancer.
Blackstar is an album that ultimately curated Bowie’s death and a rather large secret he had been carrying for months. His 27th studio album has left a tiny hole in many of our hearts, one that could not be filled with any amount of space dust or dancing. With the news of Bowie’s passing just four days ago, a short two days after his 69th birthday and the release of his final album Blackstar, we reached out to Markham for his thoughts on Bowie's legacy.
