Centro-matic frontman, Will Johnson played (mostly) solo to about 100 or so patrons at Dan’s Silverleaf last night. Regardless if he was singing a song from one of his many solo albums, or covering a Centro-matic or South San Gabriel tune, hearing the gritty noises coming through Johnson’s pursed lips are always satisfying. Filled with stacks and stacks of books old and new, there is always something to flip through, to rummage for, to find. Recycled is basically a treasure trove in the middle of town - a refuge for anyone wanting to dig deep and find something unique - and is oft overlooked by locals who get caught up in shiny new restaurants and businesses. More importantly, the friendly folks at Spiderweb Salon are now taking submissions for their next zine, which will be a special one dedicated to Denton’s beloved Nick Thrasher. Merry Christmas eve eve, y’all! The town seems to have grown a little quieter over the last few days with students going home for the Holiday’s, but we’ve been busy compiling events to keep you out and about and enjoying every moment of beautiful Denton that you possibly can! (I need some wine with that cheese). Join us in relaxing to the sounds of not college kids running through town, stressed out about finals and stuff - the quiet only last a couple weeks, so cherish it while you can!
