THE DEN10: JANUARY 13TH 2016

will milne January 13, 2016

What a week so far, right? And it’s only Wednesday. We have tons of travelling bands coming to our venues this week, so if you’re out and about be sure to check in at one of the places below and thank the musicians (read: buy merch) for coming through Denton! While we (thankfully) only have 12.5 more days of Mercury in Retrograde, we have 10 solid Denton events for you in this weeks edition of the Den10.

Want to talk more about mercury in retrograde? Email sara@whatsarasaid.com

Wednesday, January 13th

Matthew Logan Vasquez, Telegraph Canyon, Daniel Markham | Dan's Silverleaf | 8 p.m.
Most might know Matthew Logan Vasquez as the front-man for Delta Spirit. He is on his first week of his Texas Residency tour, with plenty of stops in Austin & Houston, and we sure are glad he is making a stop in our sweet little town.

Thursday, January 14th

Skagg Philips, RF Shannon, and The Dan Ryan | Dan’s Silverleaf | 9 p.m.
We promise these posts are not sponsored by Dan’s Silverleaf - they just host fantastic lineups. Be sure to catch the amazing Skagg Philips, a 5 piece indie-folk band from Denton along with RF Shannon and The Dan Ryan, both hailing from Austin.

Magnatite, Generous Juice, Hen And The Cocks, Treehouse Cabaret | Andy’s Bar | 9 p.m.
There’s always Andy’s Bar.. a high energy funk and indie-based line up including Generous Juice, aka Class Action sans Danielle.

Friday, January 15th

Cats and Dogs Benefit | Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios | 8 p.m.
Do you love cats and dogs? Of course you do, you bleeding heart. Come to the annual benefit for the Denton Humane Society (which, by the way is a privately funded, not-for-profit organization) and enjoy a fantastic line up including Brent Best, Biographies, & Future Self.

Saturday, January 16th

Denton Family Food Truck Event | Zera Coffee House | 11 a.m.
Some of our favorite Denton Food Trucks will be parked over at Zera from 11 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. this Saturday for an afternoon of fun & food. Sounds like a perfect Saturday afternoon date or family outing!

Dreamboat (ATX), Field Guide, The Single Issues, Claire Morales | Lions Den | 9 p.m.
If you didn’t get all the info you need from the headline itself, there is a show at the Lions Den this Saturday night. Claire Morales is playing, therefor your ears ought to be listening. That is our opinion, at least.

Hares on the Mountain, Siberian Traps, Chinaski, The Fury | Dan’s Silverleaf | 8 p.m.
If the DIY house show venue isn’t your scene, maybe an evening at Dan’s Silverleaf would treat you right. Catch all your favorite Denton sweetheart’s in Hare’s on the Mountain. Chinaski, The Fury is Dalton Kane from Denton, and Siberian Traps is coming out from Ft. Worth.

Petite Golden Sour Bottle Release | Bearded Monk | 2 p.m.
Fort Worth Brewers at the Collective Brew are releasing only 1,140 bottles of the Petite Golden Sour and you can purchase some of those at the Bearded Monk.

Sunday, January 17th

Texas Creative Community Mixer | Oak St. Draft House | 3 - 6 p.m.
Are you creative? Would you call yourself “a” creative? If you are reading this, you probably live in Texas, so, you might find this event captivating. Come mingle with like minded creative folk, gather inspiration and ideas from one another whilst sipping tasty beverages.

Run Forever, Looming, Hate Your Friends,  Whimper | Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios | 9 p.m.
Another all-ages show at Rubber Gloves including travelling bands and a couple locals. Run Forever is an indie-rock outfit out of Braddock, PA on the road with Looming, an indie-pop band from Springfield, IL.
