School has started but, friends, the heat of summer lingers on. September is a tricky month, and we spend the whole thirty days trying to decide if the air is cool enough to warrant all the outdoor time we’re desperately longing for. Let’s be bold and take our picnic baskets to the square (or Harvest House)! Towards the end of the month, we hope that cooler temperatures will ease their way back in and the city will erupt with autumnal glee. On a side note, we're switching Seen & Heard from a weekly format to a monthly one so you can now plan out your family-friendly activities a month in advance!

Snaps and Squishy Circuits | Emily Fowler Library | Free | 3pm
Learn about electricity! This program is for children ages 8-12 and registration is required.
Wednesday, June 17th
Paper Making | Denton Public Library | Free | 3pm
How is paper made? Is it art or is it science? Find out in this fun program for ages 8-14. Registration is required.
School’s Out Scrap’s In | SCRAP | $20 | 1-4pm
Seriously this is probably the best deal in town. A hump-day treat to break up the monotonous week now that the kids are all at home for the summer. You won’t regret signing your child(ren) up for every session-yep, it’s EVERY Wednesday afternoon!
KSCS Tour | Waterworks Park | $5-11 | 10-3
Country station KSCS 96.3 will be broadcasting from Denton this Wednesday! They’ll be hosting games and giving away prizes from 10-3. If you don’t already have your season pass, regular admission will apply.
Downtown Retail Happy Hour | Denton Square | $ | 3-6pm
Does your family love the shops and eateries downtown? Take advantage of Downtown Retail Happy Hour every Wednesday in June for discounts, specials, and coupons to use at some of your favorite places on the square.

Juneteenth Celebration | Fred Moore Park | Free | 5pm, 9am
Juneteenth marks the historic day in Texas in 1865 when Texans got word that slavery had been abolished. Denton does Juneteenth right with gospel music, a parade, and a softball tournament at this family-friendly celebration. This event is also happening on Saturday.

Explorium Denton is at the Denton Community Market where your child will be able to take apart electronics without having to put them back together. They call it “Tinkering” but you’ll call it brilliant.
Denton Air Show | Denton Municipal Airport | Free-$12 | 11-4
The Denton Air Show is one of the most exciting events in town. Load up on thrills and snow cones. Take a tour of Hangar 10. Bring your own chair and shade if you’ve got it. Oh-and did you know you can eat breakfast with the pilots at 8:00 for just $4? Those dollars benefit Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home in Denton.

Summer's already here, y'all. You can tell because your car is that type of hot where you raise your butt off the seat so you don't melt into it. Also, if you've spawned, your wee ones are currently at home and probably going through your stuff or causing mischief. Don't worry, though. We've got plenty of family-friendly events throughout the week in today's Seen & Heard. A few of 'em involve cooling yourself off by way of air conditioning or water, too. So hop to it!
