Having spent almost a decade in Louisiana, my heart has grown three sizes bigger as the selections for good Cajun or Creole cuisine in Denton has exploded in recent years. Sure, Denton is still getting used to the idea of a proper Mardi Gras celebration (that Mardi Gras On Walnut idea needs to get resurrected BTW), but turns out there’s plenty to do and see locally this weekend if’n you wanna Laissez les bons temps rouler! Denton has a lot of festivals. And while Oaktopia is about to cause all sorts of ruckus in a few weeks, we really enjoy the smaller ones. KDB's Redbud Festival and Denton Main Street's Arts and Autos events are two of our favorite Saturday mornings in Denton year in and year out. This Saturday just so happens to be one of those Saturdays. Arts and Autos (no more antiques - more on that later) is taking over the Denton square this Saturday morning from 9am until 3pm. Yes, the downtown Denton square will be cleared of cars to make room for...tons of cars! Check out some of our favorite aspects of the event in the post below so you can make the most of your time there!

You can catch live music for free on any given night of the week in Denton. Did y'all know that? We always knew that in the back of our heads, but we didn't realize just how much of it there was. That is until we put together this (fairly) comprehensive list detailing tons of the various venues that you can catch some tunes for free in Denton or sign up to play at an open mic night. Believe us when we say there's something for everyone in here. Live music not your thing? Don't worry, we've got a few non-music cultural events of which you can partake in the list, too.

Denton is always a special kind of festive during the days leading up to All Hallows Eve, and we cannot get enough of it. There are new events popping up left and right, things happening all around us and just when we thought the fun was going to fall short, Day Light Savings hits us on Sunday. Just what we needed. An extra hour of costuming, partying, and drinking on Halloween night.
