THE DEN10: FEBRUARY 8TH 2018

SHAUN TREAT

February is for lovers, maybe because the cold snap necessitates cuddling after the Groundhog spotted his shadow, but mid-month also coincides with Mardi Gras and lots of events around town! Here’s our top WDDI #DEN10 events you can’t miss with #Dentoning a’plenty.

THURSDAY, February 8th

Live Indoor Music Series w Richard Gilbert | Harvest House | 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM
A favorite outdoor music venue battles the winter cold with hot tunes, this week featuring local singer/songwriter Richard Gilbert and his new album Daybreak! Thursdays are also always hoppin’ with Glitterbomb at Andy’s, a bicycle ride at Eastside, or jazz at Steve’s Wine Bar, so keep moving to stay warm.

Kody West | Rockin Rodeo | 9:00 PM - 11:59 PM
This local kid has been steadily honing his songcraft, and here’s your chance to hear Kody West before he breaks big. Opening for him is another young music phenom, Grant Gilbert, so observe and report!

FRIDAY, February 9th

STOKE Open House | STOKE | 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Denton’s entrepreneur center and co-working space is home to a variety of educational, social, and professional networking events for our emergent creative class, and Friday is your chance to mix and mingle while exploring everything STOKE has to offer.

The Infamists, Levi Cobb & The Big Smoke| Abbey Underground | 9:00 PM - 1:59 AM
These high-energy acts will definitely rock the foundations of the Square’s South Side, no cover but plenty of toe-tapping tunes.

SATURDAY, February 10th

Intro to Local Beekeeping | Denton Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center | 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Saturdays are best spent with Jazz Brunch at The Chestnut Tree after some Yoga On The Square, but here is a rare chance to hear from local beekeepers, attend workshops, and sample the yummy goods in a Honey Tasting! Its kid-friendly and admission is free.

Valentines Market | Mulberry Street Cantina | 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Roses are Red,
Their Bloody Marys are too,
We’re gonna sip margaritas while we shop local vendors,
And we think you should come along to Mulberry too!

Winter Beer Olympics | Denton County Brewing Company | 1:00 PM – WTF:OMG?? PM
This was pretty much inevitable, what with Denton being home to so many Beerlympians and all, so DCBC is hosting the First Annual Winter Beer Olympics. You can enter with a $5 charity donation to compete in events like the Shotgun Shot Put, Cornhole Curling, Pony Keg Beerathalon, and a Team Pint Relay… tho we are wondering where the Tiny Dogsled Mitedidarod and Waterslide Toboggan Race are in the program?

SUNDAY, February 11th

Denton Bikes and Coffee | West Oak Coffee | 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Every Sunday, the Denton Independent Motorcycle Show meets up to sip coffee and plan rides. Best part is you can stop in to eyeball their sweet rides or maybe talk shop over a cup’a hot joe… and maybe savor a slice of pie.

Thin Line Comedy Speed Dating | Dan’s Silver Leaf | 2:00 PM - 8:30 PM
If you missed last year’s fundraiser, then you may not know that this is a helluva lot of fun. Quick 10-minute rounds are punctuated with comedy sets from some of our best local jesters, so this succeeds on two levels for screening a potential soulmate: What kind of things make them laugh, and how well they can hang while day-drinking at Dan’s. Genius, especially if you end up at the Love Wins Drag Race Bingo at Crossroads Bar.

5th Annual Cantina Margarita Contest | Mulberry Street Cantina | 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
$10 at the door gives you access to sample the contestant entries in this winner-take-all competition to claim the title of BEST DANG MARGARITA IN DENTON! Pace yourself, though, these championship margs are nothing to speed through.

Be sure to tag your pretty Instagram pics with #WDDI so maybe you make the cut on Monday’s glorious “What We Did” review, and sound off in the comments if you have other fave events to add!
