THURSDAY, February 1st
First Thursday Gypsy Jazz | Barley and Board | 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Le Not-So-Hot Klub d'Denton ushers in their 14th year on the Denton Square playing the music of Django Reinhardt. Thursdays are also always poppin’ with Glitterbomb at Andy’s, a bicycle ride at Eastside, or jazz at Steve’s Wine Bar, too.
An Evening of Raised Awareness | GDAC | 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
February is Black History Month, and the Denton County Friends of the Family along with the Greater Denton Arts Council are featuring an evening with Dr. Yamma Brown, author of the book Cold Sweat: My Father James Brown and Me. A VIP reception is followed by her talk and a book signing. GDAC is also hosting a musical evening with John Paul White of the Grammy-winning duo The Civil Wars at Campus Theater.
FRIDAY, February 2nd
First Friday | Downtown Denton | 6:00 PM – 10 PM
Experience Denton’s art scene in many forms on First Friday, when participating businesses and galleries sponsor activities throughout the evening! Check out the exhibits at Patterson-Appleton Arts Center, A Creative Art Studio, Circa 77, The (Ghost) Note, and the DIME Store! It also coincides with TWU’s 2018 Visual Arts Exhibition.
Alfredo Rolando Ortiz Interactive Lecture | UNT College of Music | 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
UNT’s renowned Guest Artist, an internationally acclaimed Paraguayan harpist, is serving up this provocatively titled session on “Latin American Rhythms and Avoiding Performance Injuries” in the COM Bldg room 232. Sounds like you better stretch before you go.
God of Carnage | Black Box Theatre | 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Running through February 4, the 2009 Tony Award-winning play about an evening spent by two pairs of parents discussing a fight that occurred between their sons... an exchange that quickly escalates itself. Get your tickets through the DCT website or box office.

We love us some Saturday Jazz Brunch at The Chestnut Tree after some Yoga On The Square, but this FREE workshop on edible landscaping with herbs, fruits, and vegetables looks mighty appealing!

SUNDAY, February 4th
Super Chili Bowl Cook-Off | Eastside | 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM
The Philadelphia Eagles square-off against the New England Patriots for SuperBowl LII, but the real main event is gonna be this clash of chili-making titans!! Prizes go to the Top 3 competitors with awards to worst-in-show, cow-killer, bean stew award, soup award, and a couple other surprises. John will also have free chili dogs and frito pies from 4-6pm for all the guests.
