As the weather is finally changing, and the leaves have finally figured out it is indeed fall, so has the menu at Barley and Board. Don't worry, just a few minor adjustments here and there so that you can still have your burger, and your bacon wrapped dates too. Now, though, they've switched a few things up to really amp up the fall flavor.
One of those favorites is the new Buratta Cheese and Beet small plate. The beet salad is really more of a slaw with lemon, chives and crushed walnuts. We also would definitely recommend the Harvest Turkey sandwich the next time you're in for lunch. Thick slices of moist turkey are sandwiched between toasted sourdough slathered with a thick cranberry mostarda that is perfectly tangy.
As for entree's we definitely recommend what happens to be the vegan option on the menu, the Soba-dass Noodles; soba noodles in a coconut and yellow curry sauce with acorn squash, cashes, bok choy, fresh chilies and roasted chickpeas. Another show stopper was the Mr. Shankley braised lamb shank that was literally falling off the bone alongside a warm barley salad with a parsley pesto. Ask for extra jus on the side - you won't regret it. We also loved the Scottish Salmon, almost just for the incredible celeriac puree with buttery brussels sprouts and golden raisins. If you like horseradish and dill, it's the dish for you.
Make sure you don't leave without trying one of the new seasonal cocktails they have - we loved the Opera House martini and the Alpine Kiss - which were both rosemary kissed gin drinks that tasted like a winter's day after a fresh snowfall. If you've got a sweet tooth, the pecan pie bread pudding is a shareable showstopper of warm, comforting goodness.
