Last night's city council meeting got ya down? We've got ten events happening in Denton over the next seven days in the post below that may help to cheer you up. Glen's busy eating bagels and such in NY, so this week's Den10 is from Will. Denton, remember that we've only got a few weeks left before all of the students come back so enjoy this precious time while it lasts. We know it is rather difficult to enjoy when it feels like 109 outside, but do what you can before there's more traffic and lines. Tag #WDDI on your Denton-related Instagram photos and check back here next Monday to see some of the weekend fun. Have a great week!
Wednesday, August 5th

H&M Grand Opening | Golden Triangle Mall | Noon | Free
The Golden Triangle Mall's great white hope opens tomorrow afternoon. Bring in used clothing before noon and you'll get a chance to win a gift card or be one of the first 100 shoppers in line and you'll get some sort of "fashion pass" that'll get you some sort of discount or something. Also, the event promises an, "in-store DJ spinning all the latest hits!" So take that as you will...
The Rotation: PocketBook and Something_Organic | Andy's Bar | Free | 9pm
This eclectic weekly at Andy's continues to be worth your time. Check it out this week and probably again next week.
Raised Right Men | Dan's Silverleaf | 9pm | Free
Denton's best cover band at Denton's "best venue to take out of town guests" (courtesy of the Dallas Observer). Nothing but good times and honky tonk realness.
Friday, August 7th
Brent Best Album Release Show | Dan's Silverleaf | $10 | 8pm
The much-anticipated solo album from ex-Slobberbone frontman, Brent Best, is finally here. Head out to Dan's on Friday to celebrate and listen to some beautiful alt-country. Check out some promo tunes here.
First Friday | Various Shops in Downtown Denton | Free | 6pm - 9pm
It is the first of the month so celebrate with Denton's First Fridays series. Our bet is on the Dime Store (as it usually is), where you can hang out with local "doodlemaster" Shawna Smith to draw on some rocks (but in a cool way). But that's not all! Local literary stalwart, Shay Youngblood, will be there, too. We caught Youngblood's performance of Add Architecture, Stir Memory at UNT on the Square this week and loved it. Even if you get a bit of Youngblood's storytelling in person at Dime, it'll be worth it. Also, there will probably be some free sangria courtesy of momma Dime because there normally is.
Goldenjoy, Future Self, The Single Issues | Andy's Bar | $3 | 9:30pm
A great show courtesy of I Love Math Records and #ThoseTwoGuys. Check out a song from Future self below.
Saturday, August 8th
The Rotten Cores and The Grand Opening of The Bearded Lady | Harvest House | 5pm | Free
We got a chance to see The Rotten Cores at this year's 35 Denton and really dug them (they were actually the first band to play at Harvest House...like ever). They play when the sun starts to go down at around 9pm. Aside from that, The Bearded Lady, a Traveling Parlor and Beard Emporium from Bolivar, TX, will have their grand opening earlier in the evening. They promise to incorporate their love of hotrods into their cuts so that'll either be a good thing or a bad thing. Either way, a traveling barbershop that gives straight razor shaves sounds pretty fun.
Sunday, August 9th
Kaela Sinclair and Field Division | Dan's Silverleaf | $5 | 8:30pm
Denton, you're lucky. You've got another chance to hear Kaela Sinclair's whimsical set again this Sunday. Check out D Magazines great profile on Sinclair here or her new single, "Just a Dream," embedded below.
Traveling TX Gallery Art Show | Greenhouse Restaurant | Free | 11am - 4pm
An opportunity to buy art from locals AND cheap build-your-own Bloody Mary/mimosa bar? Count us in.
