SEEN AND HEARD: AUGUST 4TH

will milne August 4, 2015

Lots of programs are taking a break until school starts, so that means lots of pool time for many of y'all. That said, there are still plenty of other fun things going on the next couple of weeks. Take a gander at a few of 'em in this edition of Seen and Heard.

Wednesday, August 5th

School’s Out Scrap’s In | SCRAP Denton | $20 | 1-4pm
Seriously this is probably the best deal in town. A hump-day treat to break up the monotonous week now that the kids are all at home for the summer. You won’t regret signing your child(ren) up for every session-yep, it’s EVERY Wednesday afternoon!

Magic School Bus | North Library | Free | 2pm
Mrs. Frizzle is back with a brand new science adventure. Explore how your world works in a fun, interactive way. Best for ages 5-10.

Summer Movie Camp | Cinemark Theater | $1 | 9:30am
A dollar for a movie? What a great way to beat the heat! For families with children of all ages, this week’s feature film is “The Nut Job.” Cheap kids combo makes for a nice distraction for those kiddos who just won’t sit still. This program continues through August 13. This event is also happening on Thursday.

Thursday, August 6th

Unicorn Lake Concert Series | Shops at Unicorn Lake | Free | 7pm
Grab a camping chair and bring your family to the free concerts on the plaza behind Beth Marie’s on Wind River Blvd. It’s a fun night to be out, and the local shops appreciate your support.

Friday, August 7th

The Fast and the Furriest | South Library | Free | 3pm
Park rangers will be presenting this great nature program for kids ages 5 and up.   Please register here.

Saturday, August 8th

Springbok Academy | Denton Community Market | Free | 9-1pm
The Denton Community Market is committed to offering quality local and handmade items along with family friendly activities. This week’s children’s activity is brought to you by Springbok Academy. Shop and have fun!

ALSO: Preview for North Texas State Fair and Rodeo!
Youth Art Contest information here.

Anyah Martinez is the mother of three busy boys and the founder of Explorium Denton, an emerging children's museum taking shape in Denton.
