Hello, October, Autumn, and even Oktober now finally! Are you ready to fest? Because it’s that time of year where everyone who is even one-sixteenth German lets you know it. We can’t complain because it’s also the time of year where the quirky events like Bike Prom happen and it’s stuff like that keeping things fresh. This weekend also marks the one month mark before Election Day and if you haven’t been paying attention to the ballot initiatives, now is the time to get informed so you can show up the booth and cast a well informed vote. More on that coming up, but for now remember to tag your best pictures #WDDI and show us your Denton.

Satans Of Soft Rock | Dan’s Silver Leaf | 9PM | $8
Some rock and roll to start off your weekend a bit early.
Loud On Stroud Vol 16: Mink Coats / Bummer Vacation / Bad Beats / Pearl Earl / Gross Bitch | 411 Stroud | 7PM
“Don’t bring cats” is something we can really get behind. I guess the real question is if this is a bird friendly event.
Dome Dwellers / Absolutely Not / Dead Snakes | Rubber Gloves | 9PM | $1
This is a really good deal on a really good show.
Friday, October 3rd
Oktoberfest On Walnut | Walnut Street | 5PM
Walnut Street will once again close down and become a pedestrian area complete with Bavarian-style food, beer, music, and other such things you would associate with an Oktoberfest. If last Spring’s Mardi Gras on Walnut was an indication of how fun Walnut can be when it’s closed off to vehicles, this should be a good time, but plus German things instead of 'Nawlins things.
Bike Prom | Sprockets | 6PM | $10
The price of a ticket gets you a spoke card, dinner at Viet Bites, admission into Rubber Gloves and new friends. Relive your prom night as if it had been in Denton, you had been of drinking age, and the entire thing was on bikes.
Drink Beer With Developers From The Future | East Side | 5PM
Is this a Primer type happy hour? Because, if so, count us in! From The Future happens to be some local developing folks and there will be an Oculus Rift out to play with probably and some talk about video games, so it won't be too different from your prom, after-all.
Saturday. October 4th
8th Annual Fry St. Oktoberfest | Lucky Lou’s | 11AM
Didn’t get enough “fest” the night before? No problem. Lou’s is here to save the day and they’ve got Pan Ector shirts, authentic German food, and steins. For those of you wondering, a Stein Hoist competition is a thing.
Flatlanders Taco Company 1 Year Anniversary / Special Announcement | Oak Street Draft House | 6PM
What could it be? A new type of taco? Flatlanders will be opening a new taco place down close to Oak St. Drafthouse pretty soon, but please let this be an Apple-type event where they say, “….but we didn’t stop there."
Sunday, October 5th
Denton Does Merle Haggard | Dan’s Silver Leaf | 5PM
Why would we not do Merle Haggard? One of the cities best bands, The Raised Right Men, gives homage to the outlaw.
Monday, October 6th
Fishboy / Sacred Destinies | J&J’s Pizza | 9PM | FREE
Pizza, schlitz, and Fishoboy are not a bad way to start off next week.
