As part of the Distinguished Lecture Series, the one and only Bill Nye the Science Guy graced Denton with his presence in the UNT coliseum, to have a chat about all things science, with a few thousand students on Wednesday night. Covering topics such as sundials, global warming, and rovers on Mars, Bill entertained and educated, just the way we remember his afternoon show as children of the 90’s. We've gathered a few fun facts shared by that Bunsen burner toting, bow-tie wearing scientist who believes that “the joy of discovery is the essence of science” just for you, so that you can keep reliving the science-y goodness all weekend.

It's been a long week, a frustrating day, and it is too late to start thinking about making dinner at home. We're starving, but the age old question of where to grab a bite and a drink is starting to rear its ugly head. Not sure about y'all, but we will actually get into arguments about this. We know, we live in the land of plenty when it comes to options for this sort of thing, but that doesn't make the decision any easier. Sometimes you just want a quiet and reliable spot and the decision gets a little easier. In a rather unexpected development for us, the bar at Queenie's has become a great escape. Read on to see why you'll find us shimmying up to the bar in our neighborhood steakhouse on the regular.

One of our most favorite things in the world is food. Taking photos of food would probably rank as #2 or #3. That’s why Taste Of North Texas is totally our jam. This is the 27th year that ~35 restaurants from all over the “little d” metro will fill the Super Pit at UNT and offer up samples of what they’ve got to benefit the Denton Kiwanis Club. This event is a Denton staple, sort of like Frenchy (who happens to be their most orange member). We’re excited to check out newcomers Upper Park out of Aubrey, soon to be opening another location on the square & you will probably find us hanging out with John Williams at the East Side / OSDH table for obvious reasons. Tickets prices are $15 for adults (Ages 18 and older), $10 for ages 7 to 17. Children ages 6 and under get in free. You can email them at denton.kiwanis@verizon.net if you’ve got questions and go check out dentonkiwanisclub.org and check out all the awesome ways they’ve been a huge part of Denton.

Anyone remember doing those “lock-In” events when you were in Junior High? We do — rollerblading around a basement, playing Truth or Dare, watching whatever the cult classic was at the time for a youth, guzzling two liter bottles of Surge. Ya’ll, remember Surge? We think it’s since been outlawed. If these memories are sweet ones for you, we have good news! You have a chance to relive your zestful youth! And if these images are less than savory to you, here’s a chance to redeem what an “all-nighter” can mean. This Friday, April 1st, the Greater Denton Arts Council (GDAC) is hosting ARTS ALL NIGHT, a fun-filled event running from 6pm-6am! Read on to let us convince you why this is the best way to pull an all-nighter.
