T-minus one day until September, y'all. We're excited. Mostly because we're throwing a little end-of-summer shindig at the Civic Center Pool on Friday evening. We've got folks like Kevin Roden and Jamie Wilson cannonballing for a cause - the Denton Parks Foundation. We hope you head over to hang out with us and make a $5 donation. We're promising good times in advance.

Last Friday we had ourselves a spur of the moment contest. We were headed to The Green Zatar for the first column in our upcoming Hole in the Wall series and we were discussing the best way to get there from the square when we decided to pit ride share/transportation services Uber and Wandervan against one another.
Uber is the "world's largest taxi company," and was valued at 18.2 billion by investors a few months ago. They opened up their oft-infamous ride sharing program in Denton earlier this year. Wandervan, the local, vintage-friendly upstart owned and operated by Jason Upshaw, showed up a few months later. The latter is a lot more obvious to spot riding around town. We downloaded both apps, headed out to the sidewalk on the downtown Denton Square and called up some cars. Below is some story from the night accompanied by tweets from our live-tweeting session. You can search the hashtag #WDDIdrives on Twitter for more info. It ended up with a sick PhD getting free ice cream, because that's just how life is. Read on for more.

Whelp, it is officially that time, everyone. The UNT and TWU classes of 2019 are moved in and ready to take Denton by the horns. Watch out for folks driving the wrong way on Elm and for those long lines at Kroger at 10pm. Things are just getting started.

Within the bunch are images of new restaurants, cactus cats, and some behind the scenes action from our contest between Uber and local upstart, Wandervan (but you can read more about that later, or search #WDDIdrives on Twitter in the meantime). Also, keep your ear to the ground this week, because we'll be announcing a super fun event later today.

Phew. We just got back home from vacation, but it looks as if things were busy (if hot) here in Denton in our absence. We're happy to be back even if Friday is supposed to be over 100 degrees.

Its been a lazy summer in Denton and it hasn't been any different at We Denton Do It. Glen had to take a Rip Van Winkle-esque nap from Tuesday to Friday after the craziness that was last Monday so the Den10 took a break. Looks like y'all still found plenty of stuff to do, though!
