WHAT WE DID: MARCH 24TH

Another week, another set of beautiful pictures. If after civilization ends, the world were to be judged by the photos that get tagged #WDDI, whomever would be looking at the photos would think we were a bunch of taco-eating beautiful people who worshiped goats, cats and the sky. That makes us happier than anything else could this morning. Have a great week, y'all. Remember that we're showing Fantastic Mr. Fox on the courthouse lawn Tuesday evening at 8pm. Tag your photos this week with #WDDI to get included in next week's What We Did.

Goats are definitely an acceptable pet in the land of Denton... don't worry @jadewintersee - we don't think you're crazy.

A little sticker bombing is just part of the local music culture. Thanks for catching the action @sundayprintshop! And catch a Dome Dwellers show whenever y'all have a chance, readers.

Saturday was a little overcast, but Sunday was nice enough to throw some meat on the grill. No taco photos this week, y'all. Where ya at, Denton? Was it not a taco-appropriate week?

THE DEN10: MARCH 19

It's officially spring now, y'all. Thank goodness. All those ice days and time off were wearing us out. Now we can all just go back to being one of the greatest little cities ever and keep on keeping on. It's time to get our rain and festival on. You guys have fun going out this week, we'll be running around trying to keep up with you all. Don't forget to tag your pics and grams with #WDDI to be included in Monday's What We Did post.

Oh yeah - see you on the courthouse lawn Tuesday night!

Their campaign just launched earlier this week and we highlighted it in our recent Crowd-funding post. We may not know how to knit, but I have a feeling that a beer and some inspiration would go a long way in this effort. If you're wondering to yourself, "What the hell is yarn bombing?" click this link to find out more

Once again, we find ourselves staring down another list of awesome things to do this week. There are tons of shows and Walnut St. is getting shutdown Friday evening for a Mardi Gras hosted by the good people at Sweetwater. Let’s cross our fingers for sunny weather and make sure to tag your photos to be considered for our Monday What We Did post.

Friday, February 28
Mardi Gras on Walnut | Sweetwater | 5PM
Sweetwater is throwing a party big enough that it calls for shutting down Walnut St. and everyone is invited. Dixieland and Zydeco plus Community Market booths to line the street and a wagon mini-float parade. Proceeds go to Music Theatre of Denton.

THE DEN10: FEBRUARY 19

It’s another eclectic week. At least it's nice outside, though (for now). We’re secretly hoping the weather stays like this until next December. This weekend, you'll find us flipping through graphic novels on a blanket on the courthouse lawn - maybe with a bottle (or two) of wine. Make sure to check out all that Denton's got going on and don't forget to tag those pictures with #WDDI to be included in Monday’s What We Did post.

Wednesday, February 19
Snarky Puppy | Hailey’s | 8PM | $20-$75
Grammy Winners, hometown heroes and toasts of the town, Snarky Puppy are making a triumphant return to town/Hailey’s. We're thinking they deserve the key to the city now. Is there a key to the city? Does it open those secret underground tunnels we've heard so much about?

Shipwrecked! | Redbud Theater Complex | 8PM | $10

Shipwrecked.jpg

Real Ale Brewing Company Tap Takeover | East Side Social Club | 7PM
Meet the brewer from Real Ale, get a pint and answer some trivia. All seven varieties of Real Ale will be present, on tap and delicious.

Friday, February 21
Violent Squid / Nervous Curtains / Dome Dwellers | Rubbergloves | 9PM | $5
Violent Squid was once a mainstay of the North Texas noise rock scene, but they've since splintered around and we sadly see them play less now. They'll have their new album available at this show. We're looking forward to this one.

Third Fridays At Innovation Greenhouse | Innovation Greenhouse Acoustic Gardens | 4PM-8PM
Bashe, Blessin’, food trucks and environmental innovation. Not bad for a Friday. Lean Machine will be there for sure.

Saturday, February 22
Mini A-Kon 7 | Denton Civic Center | 10am - 5PM
With so many Dentonites working at FUNimation this cosplay anime festival seems like a natural thing. This event has been held at the Denton Public Library's North Branch for past years, but in recent years, it's grown too big for that space. We're glad we’ve got the Civic Center for these types of large events, though. Expect food trucks, galore (including Easy Slider, Cupcakin' and Nammi), photobooths and lots of awesome handmade costumes for your people watchin' good times.

Boxcar Bandits / Hares On The Mountain / A.M. Ramblers | Dan’s Silverleaf | 9PM | $5

Sunday, February 23
Sarah Jaffe / Bethan | Dan’s Silverleaf | 5PM | $15
Cause duh. We don't think this has sold out yet. Is Jaffe still in her "electric phase?"

Monday, February 24
Paul Slavens & Friends | Dan’s Silverleaf | 10PM | FREE
Always a good time.

Tuesday, February 25
GeeKon Author Faire 2014 | Public Library North Branch | 6PM-9PM
It’s a meet and mingle with local authors. GeeKon is actually a larger event that spans from Feb. 22nd until March 1st and it encompasses Mini A-Kon, a Pokemon battle (yes), an author faire and much more. You can find the full schedule here
