This Saturday is the eighth annual Handmade Harvest event put on by the fine folks at The DIME Store. This annual event is probably the single best day of shopping available in Denton. Yes, even better than that day after Thanksgiving when everyone eats leftover pie and then goes to Target to fight over discounted televisions. At the Handmade Harvest, makers from all over gather together under one roof (this year at TWU's Hubbard Hall) to sell their wares. Read on to find out why you should make sure to stop by this weekend and what to check out.

THE DEN10: NOVEMBER 23rd, 2016
Thank goodness it’s Thanksgiving. We all need a break. Anytime we head home for a holiday, we're always reminded of the blog post Councilman Kevin Roden posted in 2013 dubbed Banning Politics from the Thanksgiving Table. How did we get to this place where a discussion of ideas on the direction of our country and community could be so poisonous? For a lot of us who hear "we're not going to discuss politics," our family isn't necessarily in our same bubble. To not spend that time in civil discourse with folks of differing viewpoints over good food and drink would be a shame. Turkey sucks, though. Hashtag your good photos #WDDI and tell us what your thankful for.

One of our most favorite things in the world is food. Taking photos of food would probably rank as #2 or #3. That’s why Taste Of North Texas is totally our jam. This is the 27th year that ~35 restaurants from all over the “little d” metro will fill the Super Pit at UNT and offer up samples of what they’ve got to benefit the Denton Kiwanis Club. This event is a Denton staple, sort of like Frenchy (who happens to be their most orange member). We’re excited to check out newcomers Upper Park out of Aubrey, soon to be opening another location on the square & you will probably find us hanging out with John Williams at the East Side / OSDH table for obvious reasons. Tickets prices are $15 for adults (Ages 18 and older), $10 for ages 7 to 17. Children ages 6 and under get in free. You can email them at denton.kiwanis@verizon.net if you’ve got questions and go check out dentonkiwanisclub.org and check out all the awesome ways they’ve been a huge part of Denton.

If you saw me rolling a bass speaker cabinet up to the square at about 10PM last night after Denton Pub Quiz Apocalypse I want to assure you that it seemed like a great idea at the bottom of the hill. But then again, there are a lot of things that seemed like a good idea post-apocalypse. The thing had wheels. At any rate, join us in two weeks for the same sorts of shenanigans and quizzings up at Dan’s Silverleaf, 7PM, free to play and there’s actual cash money prizes. Until then, check out the bounty of events our humble little village has to offer. Tag your photos #WDDI and get featured in the What We Did post on Monday.
