OPEN DATA DELUGE

Maybe you’ve overheard some very tech-y terms floating around in conversations while grabbing your morning coffee at West Oak, or your happy hour beverage at Harvest House. Not surprising, as TechMill, a Denton-based non-profit, holds their weekly meetings at both of these popular watering holes. Additionally, they encourage all whom are present to join in on the conversation. One of the most popular topics in our tech community pertains to "open source data," or information that is freely accessible. Denton just so happens to already be an open source city, meaning that all of the data collected by the city is available to anyone, but you need to be willing to dig deep enough to find it, which is often an unintended barrier for citizens who don’t have a tech-savvy background. Read on to see what kind of data we're digging into as we near Open Data Day.

WHAT WE DID: DECEMBER 21ST

We always treasure our student-less times in Denton. Scoring a parking space on the square without resorting to one of the secret parking spaces that would have us walking an extra half a block is a great feeling. The 70 degree weather is kinda killing our Christmas-buzz right now, though. Good thing we have Star Wars VII and all of the SW-related photos y'all took to cheer us up.

What We Did is our weekly roundup of photos that WDDI staff and readers have taken over the past seven days. We've got 18 of our favorite images from the past week in Denton, TX below.

If you'd like to be included in What We Did, tag your images with #WDDI on Instagram, and check back here next Monday. As always, we're limited in the photos we can post, but we encourage you to search the hashtag #WDDI and check out all of the other awesome photos that have been tagged with #WDDI.

Don’t forget to tag your photos and someone PLEASE take pictures of those Minecraft creations.
