I've long heard rumors in whispers around town that the best pie in Denton can be found at Loco Café. Not only did my long overdue reconnaissance mission need to be performed between the hours of 7:00am and 3:00pm, but the pie doesn’t even show up until Friday. You may see this elusive beast Saturday, Sunday, or even Monday morning for the luckiest, but those who appreciate freshness, predictability, and just-from-the-oven warmth can and should make their standing pie dates around 10am on Friday.

West Oak Coffee Bar invited us to try out some of their new menu. Being the gluttonous, hungry folk we are, we could never turn down such an offer. They said a bunch of stuff to us while we were there, but we mostly just heard "pie" a couple of times and nodded our heads a lot. We went back a few days later to talk to new kitchen co-manager, Benjamin Davidson, about the menu and what's coming up for West Oak Coffee Bar.

WE DENTON DO IT EATS LUCKY STAR PIE
A few weeks ago was another one of those fake holidays that doesn’t really mean anything. Sure, maybe you like to wait in line at IHOP for free food on National Pancake Day, or maybe you enjoy getting excited about National Donut Day only to forget about it when the time comes around. Normally, we let them pass without much fanfare. National Pie Day, however, was different. We were immediately excited as soon as we became aware of this day. Pie is our lifeblood at We Denton Do It. “Where’s the best place to get pie in Denton?” we asked. A couple people said Loco Cafe. Some suggested we go grab us some pie at Ravelin, but there was definitely not a definitive Denton pie place. That may soon change.
