Denton's food scene has grown exponentially in the past decade. People drive from all over to come check out some of the newer (and older) restaurants that our town at the top of the triangle has to offer. We figured with all of the recent restaurant shuffling, we would highlight the fifteen dishes that we believe you should eat during your time in Denton. We've purposefully left out desserts (and drinks) because we will take a look at those in future posts, but believe us when we say we had plenty to choose from and nailing this down to fifteen was not so easy.

I've long heard rumors in whispers around town that the best pie in Denton can be found at Loco Café. Not only did my long overdue reconnaissance mission need to be performed between the hours of 7:00am and 3:00pm, but the pie doesn’t even show up until Friday. You may see this elusive beast Saturday, Sunday, or even Monday morning for the luckiest, but those who appreciate freshness, predictability, and just-from-the-oven warmth can and should make their standing pie dates around 10am on Friday.

The coffee game in Denton has drastically changed in the past two years. Seven Mile Coffee started the shift to third-wave coffee almost three years ago (if we're ignoring The Hydrant), but since then, the local coffee scene has expanded in size almost exponentially with Shift, West Oak Coffee Bar, Big Mike's, Cultivar, The Whitehouse, and even a few more opening shop in town. Having so many options can be a little stressful - especially if you're the type who doesn't just pick and spot and stick with it. All of the new shops have their own specific strengths.
