THURSDAY, August 30th
Boxcar Bandits/Kiel Grove/Country Rexford | Dan’s SilverLeaf | 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM
This line-up promises an evening of Irish music, grease folk, and twangy skunkgras to better prepare your soul for the coming weekend shows like Small Houses/Brent Best on Saturday. Thursdays are also always good for live jazz at Steve’s Wine Bar, Glitterbomb at Andy’s, a bicycle social ride out of Eastside, or Trivia at Mulberry St. Cantina. Plenty of options, always.
FRIDAY, August 31st
Dapper Apple Launch Party| Armadillo Ale Works | 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
The brewmeisters trot out their fall seasonal selection, an apple pie spiced amber ale sure to bring to a smile! The event invites us to come “dressed to the nines” for a best dressed and most creative contest, but I have no idea how that translates for Denton. Observe and report, with photos pls.
Undefined Fest | The Bearded Monk | 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM
Fall means festivals, and this new offering promises the Denton trifecta of art, music, and beer! The Bearded Monk (who recently got blessed by honest-to-gosh real bearded Trappist monks) teams with Denton County Brewing and Eastside to sample Sixpoint selections, all while prize raffles and silent auction benefit Explorium Denton.
Six Piece Comedy Deal | J&J’s ODB Undercrust | 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Laugh along with some of the emerging talents that make up Denton’s burgeoning comedy scene in this showcase of nutcases.
SATURDAY, September 1st
Denton Community Market | Denton County Historic Park | 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
The beloved Denton Community Market is the best way to ring in Saturdays, with all kinds of nifty crafty swag, produce, veggies, food, tours of the Bayless-Selby House, and live music! Browsing always pairs nicely with Saturday Jazz Brunch at The Chestnut Tree after some Yoga On The Square.
UNT vs SMU + Von Erichs| Apogee Stadium| 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Whomever came up with this idea deserves a raise. UNT football hosts its season opener against the SMU Mustangs, but after the game it’s World Class Revolution wrestling featuring Denton’s own Von Erich family! Tickets start at $20 here.
