SCRAP has been Denton's home for creative reuse for several years now. Heck, their "new" location off of Bell Avenue is already a couple of years old. Where else in town can you fill up bags of "yarn barf" for 25¢ per bag, buy used trophies such as "3rd place at Local Comedy Contest," enroll your child in educational classes that promote creative reuse, or find useful things such as art materials on the cheap? SCRAP does a lot of stuff, y'all. Aside from just being an awesome store and educational center, SCRAP also puts on one of our favorite events every year: the SCRAP Masquerade Ball. This year's ball is happening Saturday, October 14th from 7 - 10pm at the Denton Woman's Club. Read on to learn more about this exciting event and find out how you can get your tickets for the event
Listing all of the individual things that make the SCRAP fundraiser great would not do this event justice. Sure, you have your food, drink, live music, photo booth, silent auctions, etc..., but it is the creative touch from the brilliant minds of SCRAP's planning committee for this event that really set it apart. Expect dance performances, people in character, spot-on-decor, and much more. If you were classified as a theater kid in high school, this event is your jam. The silent auction ain't no slouch, either. Just ask the creepy baby doll sculpture my wife sadly won from the silent auction last year.
The SCRAP Masquerade Ball is in its fifth year in 2017. The theme of this year's ball is "1950's Prom." So expect lots of floofy dresses, some ruffles, and the punch to get spiked. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.
Like KDB's annual Redbud Festival, SCRAP's Masquerade Ball is one of our favorite events in Denton and we can't recommend it enough.
This event is sponsored by Extreme Cuisine Catering, Pratt Industries, and the City of Denton Solid Waste and Recycling. Live music will be provided by Westin Portillo. Tickets to the event are $15/person if purchased in advance or $20 at the door. You can purchase tickets to the event on SCRAP's website (click through and scroll down). We'll see you there!
