Earlier this year we sat down with the incredible women behind Brick Haus Collective, to get a feel for the great things they're doing with the fine arts community of Denton. Now, we're excited that we get to see them grow enough to 'give back' as they host their first juried exhibit. Read on to see exactly what they've got in store this weekend.
This weekend, on October 1, Brick Haus will be hosting its very first juried exhibition. Hosting a juried exhibition was a goal of the founders when they first opened, so it is exciting to see this goal come to fruition. Since Sonar Scan's intent was to unearth emerging talent from the North Texas area and bring it into view, they've curated an incredibly diverse exhibition.
Juried by Chris Blay, a well known artist and curator in DFW, there are 25 works to exhibit, chosen from 200 entries. While there was no specific theme for Sonar Scan, the collective wanted to focus on the idea of bringing something into public view that could be hard to see. As Brick Haus Collective itself sits at the back of an industrial area, they understand what it means to fly under the radar, like many emerging artists.
Join them this weekend for what is sure to be a great exhibit, and celebrate the emerging artists in the area.
