WORDS BY ALYSSA STEVENSON, IMAGES BY WILL MILNE
It feels like we've been spending an awful time sitting at the back of big rooms tweeting what the candidates are putting out there. Okay, it doesn't just feel that way, we actually have been. This has been a lively race, and we've been committed to following it as closely as our schedules allowed.
Last night we hosted our third candidate forum, and we were reminded of why we love local politics. About 200 people came out to have a beer, talk politics, listen to the issues and support not only their candidate, but also their community. The candidates talked about the issues, stayed on topic, and were all spotted talking to folks afterwards. This was our kind of forum - because Denton is unique - and sometimes we all just need to grab a beer, hang in a bar, hear each other out, and be reminded of how great our community is.
In the words of Sam Ortiz, "Get out there and vote! That's the main thing, everyone needs to be involved." Truer words could not be spoken. So do as Ortiz says, and get on out there people! Early voting started yesterday, so it's time for you to get out there and let your voice be heard! Voting times and locations call all be found on votedenton.com.
