Chess Night | Emily Fowler Library | Free | 6pm
All ages and all levels are welcome to play. What a great way to spend an evening as a family!
Tuesday, July 21st
Lil’d Summer Gardening Camp | Calhoun Middle School Garden | Free | 9am
Explorium Denton hosts this twice-a-week program for children ages 5-11 at the CMS Garden. Come to any or all sessions, but please let them know you’re coming by emailing info@exploriumdenton.org. This event is also happening on Thursday.
Crafts Galare | Marynell’s Craft Attack | $25/day | 1-5pm
Come create a wood craft, a mosaic mirror, a bulletin board, a picture frame and more. Marynell will get you addicted to crafting! This event is also happening Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday, July 22nd
Wizard Robes | Painting with a Twist | $25 | 2-4pm
This class is for water lovers ages 8 and up. Parents may drop off or stay. Either way you’ll wind up with a treasured piece of art for your home.
Open Art Lab | North Branch Library | Free | 2-5pm
Explore different analog art media with an emphasis on creative reuse. We provide the materials and you provide creativity. This is an open-ended art program in which teens can create a new work of art each week or work on an ongoing project. After completion, teens may display their work in North Branch’s Teen Room.
Open House | Green Valley School | Free | 4pm - 9pm
Check out the recently restored/renovated Green Valley School building in Aubrey which will now be a community center this Wednesday.
School’s out, Scrap’s In | Scrap | $20 | 1-4pm
Seriously this is probably the best deal in town. A hump-day treat to break up the monotonous week now that the kids are all at home for the summer. You won’t regret signing your child(ren) up for every session-yep, it’s EVERY Wednesday afternoon!
Cinemark Summer Movie Camp | Cinemark Wind River | $1 | 9:30am
A dollar for a movie? What a great way to beat the heat! For families with children of all ages, this week’s feature film is “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.” Cheap kids combo makes for a nice distraction for those kiddos who just won’t sit still. This program continues through August 13. This event is also happening on Thursday.
Thursday, July 23rd
Anna and Elsa Coding | North Branch Library | Free | 2pm
Learn the basics of computer coding by playing a computer game starring Anna and Elsa. This is a self-paced lesson in coding, but staff will be present for one-on-one assistance. For ages 8 and older. Click here to register.
Friday, July 24th
Gravity Falls | Emily Fowler Library | Free | 3pm
Are Zombies real? What supernatural creatures and surprises will Dipper’s mysterious journal unlock? Join us as we explore the world of Dipper and Mabel Pines, the “Mystery Twins” from Disney XD's awesome cartoon, Gravity Falls. Ages 11-17. Click here to register.
Saturday, July 25th
Mariachi Concert | Murchison Performing Arts Center | Free | 1:30pm
Support UNT student musicians and this fantastic genre of music. Practice your “grito” and don’t be surprised if you start dancing in your seat.
Summer Concert Series | Golden Triangle Mall | Free | 7pm
Stop by the food court area (which is mighty nice now that it’s been renovated) and enjoy a free concert this Saturday night.
