We at We Denton Do It like movies. Back in the day, we used to host a weekly movie night at the late Hydrant coffee shop (remember that, Nick?) it has since gone on to be two separate businesses. We're old. More recently, we've hosted outdoor movie nights on the Courthouse lawn. Its a fun time. We've seen a couple of first dates at our movie nights and even know a couple that is still together since the time we showed Fantastic Mr. Fox. Also, people have enjoyed the movies, too, so that's always a plus.
This year, we're showing the 90's Tim Burton/Johnny Depp classic, Edwards Scissorhands which features a pre-self aware Johnny Depp as a kind Frankenstein-like creature with scissors for hands. it's one of our faves. Heck, if you've got little ones, bring 'em and find out if this 1990 PG-13 movie would be a modern day R (the MPAA had a couple of lackadaisical years in the 80's and 90's, we've found).
Here's a quick preview if you've forgotten about how fantastical and bright this movie was:
The evening is being made possible by Crosstimbers Community Church, Initiative, West Oak Coffee, We Denton Do It, East Side, Collage, and Atomic Candy; along with the help of the gracious folk at the Denton County Historical Courthouse for letting us use their front yard.
The movie starts at 8pm on Friday, May 1st. So make your plans, mark your calendars and we recommend biking or walking since (fingers crossed) the weather will be perfect.
So bring some snacks, a blanket, and your affinity for all things Burton-esque over to our favorite side of the courthouse next Tuesday. Oh, and if y'all could ask LSA to keep it down this time, we'd appreciate it. We'll see ya there!
