It is officially almost Christmas, y'all. Do you have all of your shopping done? We don't either. Don't feel bad. But don't worry. We're here to help. Below are a few gift suggestions for your boyfriend, girlfriend, significant other, child, grandma, grendpeppy, or whatever that will help you spend your hard-earned money in town. If you have any local gifts you'd like to receive, let us know in the comments and maybe your sister-in-law will see it and buy it for ya!
Stop by The Bearded Monk and fill up a growler with a delicious brewed beverage (preferably local).
A bag of coffee or gift card from one of our favorite local coffee shops. West Oak Coffee Bar is selling Onyx Coffee now and we've been loving it lately.
Lessons from the Ghost Note, because he’s always wanted to be a drummer at heart. He just doesn't talk openly about it.
Holiday Lighting Collectible Denton Christmas Ornaments make great gifts for that person that spends too much time decorating their tree.
Go visit Armand at Denton Camera Exchange and have him help you pick out a vintage camera for your photography-obsessed friend. Keep in mind you can still get film for many old-school Polaroid cameras through the Impossible Project also sold at Denton Camera Exchange.
A gift certificate to Recycled for that issue of McSweeney's #42 they've been holding out for.
Pre-order your pal a ticket for one of Denton's awesome upcoming festivals. Heck, Thin Line is just around the corner and there's a link on this very same page that will take you to get some discounted tickets right now! Link for the lazy.
Denton shirts are a big deal these days. Heck, we will probably have one for sale sometime soon. In the meantime, there are lots of great ones you can get in town. Make sure to stop by the Norman Roscoe pop-up store on the square to check out their Denton gear (and a few other items, too). Pan Ector has quite a few great designs. Jude Landry's "Oh no you Denton" shirt is available at The Dime Store. Denton Swag has some fun new designs.
People like candles. Resoycled makes awesome ones. You can grab one at The Dime Store. Have we mentioned that place enough yet? If you like collaborations, she does that, too. You can purchase one from the "Ink Shop Collection" made by the geniuses at Triple Threat Press with Resoycled. In addition, they have another collaboration in a ceramic mug with Bell and Oak and Regine Kalala that you can purchase here. We hear the amber and leather combination smells divine.
A wallet or key lanyard from Bell and Oak makes a great gift for men or women. Clint Wilkinson, owner of Bell and Oak, is crafting some of the most beautiful handmade leather goods around (yes, even outside of Denton). His Instagram feed alone will make you swoon. We're pretty much feeling like we need all leather everything now. Don't even get us started on the amazing 'new leather' smell that happens when you pick up a new piece for your growing wallet collection - it's addicting. Don't feel like shopping online? Stop by Weldon's and check out lots of Bell and Oak stuff (in addition to some other great products) in person.
A Rachel Elise clutch - the bag to be seen with in Denton. She makes some awesomely handsome bags for pretty ladies. They even have a date purse - the perfect way to hint that you'd like a date for someone maybe?
Handmade jewelry from Archerplusshare from her Etsy shop or available at the DIME store. It's the perfect way to buy jewelry without over-thinking diamonds or hearts.
Is your fella obsessed with early 90's pop culture? Does he ever wonder if a predator would be able to take a wompa in a fight? Get him a Matthew Sallack print. He's down at the community market when they're in season, but has some work available at The DIME Store, as well.
Y’all play board games, right? We sure do. We like to stroll by More Fun Comics, Books and Games on the square and get a new one every now and then. Small World is great, but if you’re looking for something a bit more casual, then go for Fluxx or Sushi Go!
Some Mustache Wax from Rose Costumes for your mustachioed friend.
A CHL course at Quail Creek Gun Range.
A couple giant aluminum letters (maybe a couple of you can get the letters for “BUTT,” "BEER," or “DUMB” if you hurry) from Serendipity.
Go peruse the Crafts subreddit, make some notes, and then head over to SCRAP Denton and get crafty. You can do it.
Lavender bath salts and body butter from Austin Street Apothecary - also available at The DIME Store.
An Anna Tovar print from The Dime Store makes a great gift for a lady-friend or even your Mom.
The rest of this stuff not floating your boat? Take 'em and get 'em drunk at Eastside, Paschall Bar, Lou's, Oak St., or whatever your preferred Denton booze palace.
