Can you believe that next week is Halloween? That means we are rounding out October and heading full force in to what we hope will be an actual fall season. Temperatures seem to have broken (finally) and it is Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival weekend - what more could you possibly want?
Although there are tons of events happening in Denton this week (and every week), we chose what we think are the 10 best events that give you a full taste of what Denton has to offer. Lecture Series: Shaun Treat Presents “Denton Ghost Stories” | Courthouse on the Square Museum | 12pm | FREE
If you have not had the opportunity to hear town historian Shaun Treat speak, please take this opportunity. Not only is this lecture series free to the public, you can catch it on your lunch break (if you work in Denton).
Back to the Future II Movie Night | Courthouse Lawn | 7pm | FREE
’all! You can finally use that meme about Back to the Future this year! This event should be a no-brainer. Our friends at COLLAGE bring you another movie night on the courthouse lawn - absolutely free. Grab a blanket and a cup a coffee, and as long as the Cubs don’t actually win the world series, we aren't complaining.

For the cost of one canned good per person, you can come to Texas Women’s University to participate in a community wide trunk-or-treat event. There will be a haunted house, carnival activities, train rides, and candy! You had us at candy.
Saturday, October 24th
Coffee with Our Lady Leaders | Zera Coffee | 9am
Have you ever wanted to know more about what it is like to be a woman in an elected office position? Join local ladies Keely Briggs, Kathleen Wazny, Mia Price, Dorothy Adkins, Pete Kamp, Barbara Burns as they discuss what it is like to be a woman an elected office position.
Day of the Dead Festival | Downtown Denton | 11am
Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival is finally upon us! This family friendly, free event takes place in the heart of downtown and includes the 3rd annual coffin races, a twilight parade, tons of great music, and the thrilling Cirque du Horror show. If you haven’t seen the decor around downtown or at the Greater Denton Arts Council yet, be prepared to feast your eyes!
Mural Painting with Warren Lunt | The Bearded Monk | 4pm |
Veteran mural artist, Warren Lunt will be creating a 70-foot long, 16-foot high mural at the newly opened Bearded Monk. (ps, y’all - WE HAVE A GROWLER BAR IN DOWNTOWN). This will be one of the most anticipated murals in Denton this year!
Park After Dark | Downtown | 7pm | FREE
With tours starting every 20 minute and lasting up until 9pm, you won’t want to miss your chance to peep around the Bayless-Selby house, after dark. If you’ve visited before, you probably have already been a little spooked inside the building, so - why not go after the suns set? Brush up on some good ol’ Denton history in the form of ghost stories while having a family-friendly evening of frightful fun.
First Annual Psychic Fair | Denton Unitarian | 12pm | $25
It’s October, the fall air is hitting your face, and what's that? What’s that on your mind? You want to what? Find out “more” about yourself?
