THE DEN10: SEPTEMBER 17

Alyssa Stevenson September 17, 2014

Only in Denton will you find two festivals taking over the downtown area at the same time. The 16th Annual Blues Festival and year two of Oaktopia play off this weekend and if the weather holds out and stays dry, we’ll have another relatively warm and summery weekend of music and general galavanting around. What are your plans? Go festin' with us! Show us what you’re up to by tagging your pictures and posts with #WDDI.

Questions and comments can go in the direction of glen@wedentondoit.com

Thursday, September 18th
Launching The Micro-Farm Revolution | Denton | 3PM

Bird Meets Winter / New Wolff City / Sleepyhouse | Dan’s Silver Leaf | 9PM | FREE

Friday, September 19th
North Texas Giving Day | The Square | 5PM
This is a huge deal for non-profits in North Texas. The goal this year is to raise $1,000,000 for Denton County non-profits. The rally on the square will have booths and tables setup from all the participating non-profits.

Big Round Spectacles / Across Waters / Leoncarlo Canalas / manintheraw | J&J’s | 7:30
Get your pizza and Schlitz on. Maybe even an Italian sausage sub if you're feeling particularly fat?

1’s & 2’s / Sky Window | Abbey Underground | 10PM | FREE

Oaktopia 2014 | Downtown | $15-$30
Day 1! Check out our interview with the Oaktopia folks and then realize this is a very good festival experience value. We'll have some of our highlights that are performing later this week.

Saturday, September 20th
Denton Community Market | Denton County Historical Park | 9AM - 1PM

Oaktopia 2014 | Downtown | $15-$30
Day 2! Check out our interview with the Oaktopia folks and then realize this is a very good festival experience value.

The 16th Annual Denton Blues Festival | Quakertown | through Sunday | FREE
Denise LaSalle and Joe Louis Walker are the Saturday and Sunday headliners respectively.  This fest is quite a bit like our beloved Jazz Fest except less traffic jams going over the bridge and less teens in ditches.

Pops Carter Public Art Dedication | Quakertown Park | 12PM
This is a project the Public Art Committee took on last year and it’s finally ready for it’s installation and unveiling. The man was a fixture of the Denton Music scene for years and is now not only a legend but also a mural.

Sunday, September 21th
Multi-Dimensional Sound Healing Ceremony | The Yoga Hut | 7PM
Please someone get pics and tag them #WDDI for this one. Please.
