Better Block Denton took place this past Saturday morning (and early afternoon). We've already written quite a bit about the event before it occurred, but we stopped by on both Friday (for construction/setup) and Saturday (day of) to check things out and take some photos.

As of now, there is little to no trace of the event outside of the old Piggly Wiggly on Sherman Dr. Pretty soon that space will be a La Azteca Meat Market (and the grapevine tells us a portion of the space will become a quinceanera event area, as well), but if this weekend taught us anything, it's that there's more to Denton than just the square (do y'all still go to Fry?). People came out in droves to this event and we noticed quite a few walking/biking. A business of any caliber opening up in this neighborhood would do gangbusters and we're hoping to see something spinoff of BBD and open up somewhere close in the next year or so. If Oak Cliff's Better Block led to Davis St. Espresso, then we're excited to see what's in store (Denton may have a glut of coffee shops, but nothing up north). That said, we'll take whatever we can get!
