The weekend may be a bit wet again, but if you ain’t sweet enough to melt then there’s plenty of fun to be had about town. This week in #DENTONING promises plenty to keep you busy, so here is our top #DEN10 weekly events for you to check out!


THURSDAY, September 27

UNT Wind Symphony | Murchison Performing Arts Center | 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM  
Conductor Eugene Migliaro Corporon leads an evening of exquisite music from talented UNT musicians in the Silver Armadillo.

FRIDAY, September 28

PolaCon| various Denton sites | All Weekend Long  
PolaCon – the world’s first 3-day instant film photography convention – is back for year three! And nearly every event planned is still free to attend (with an RSVP), featuring more than 20 workshops/sessions with guest speakers and photographers, an annual panel discussion dubbed "The State of the Emulsion Address,” a Zines & Things “swap meet” area, an instant film exhibition, pop-up galleries, an Instant Film Museum, 8x10 demos and a photobooth, as well as film- and camera-specific walks and meet-ups – in addition to more than five unique PolaWalks in distinctive, picturesque areas. 

Kitty Bunny Bakery Pop-Up| Armadillo Ale Works | 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM    
Count me in for cupcakes-and-beer pairings, followed by Captured! By Robots at Andy’s or maybe a Petals & Pinot workshop just to keep things wacky. 

Fisk Live| Dan’s SilverLeaf | 8:00 PM – 12:01 AM  
For something completely different, Fisk offers an Audio/Visual/Neural showcase that is… Well, ain’t really sure how to explain it so watch this video and use your imagination.

SATURDAY, September 29th

Denton Community Market | Denton County Historic Park | 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM  
The beloved Denton Community Market is the best way to ring in Saturdays, with all kinds of nifty crafty swag, produce, veggies, food, tours of the Bayless-Selby House, and live music! Be sure to wish Matty HBD, then browsing always pairs nicely with Saturday Jazz Brunch at The Chestnut Tree after some Yoga On The Square!

Fry Street Oktoberfeast| West Hickory St.| 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM  
Lace up your sneakers and lederhosen for the 12th Annual West Hickory Street Oktoberfest, brought to you by Lucky Lou's, Cool Bean’s, Shots & Crafts, and Caskey's! The day starts off with their 4th Annual - 100% for charity - 5K Run and Costume Contest benefiting three local non-profit organizations: Stop the Stigma, Denton Animal Support Foundation’s Safe Haven Program, and G.O.A.L. Following the 5K, venues along West hickory Street will have live music, food, weiner dog races, stein hoists, das boots, and more! 

BBQ & Brews| Oak Street Drafthouse | 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Go gnosh on Tex-Mex ‘que from Hurtado Barbeque and sample a few of the more than 70 beers on tap in this tasty evening at OSDH&CP.  

Glam Bam Thank You Ma’am| Q’s Café | 9:00 PM - 12:01 AM  
Glam Rock was a celebration of art, of music, and sexuality without boundaries, so this Queerlesque tribute promises some awesome music with their live performances!!

SUNDAY, September 30th

Sunday Brunch| The Chestnut Tree| 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM  
Shut up and take our money!! Their Saturday Jazz Brunch is already one of our favorite weekend stops but now Sunday’s are also a delicious destination. Just check out their Sunday menu and you’ll see why…  Dangit, I’m drooling.

Pie in the Face Fundraiser| Eastside| 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM  
Step right up! Do you have what it takes to put a pie in a derby girls face!?? $5 for a pie throw, or $10 gets you three. Support North Texas Roller Derby and find out how much pie will fit in Catfish’s grizzled beard. I’m betting a lot.
