It's Time For Taste of North Texas

Danielle Gaither

Once a year in Denton, many of our local restaurants and bars get together for a good cause and make their food and drinks available for roughly the price of a single restaurant meal. This year’s event will feature around 35 participants, including a great mix of established Denton institutions (hi, Beth Marie’s!) and places that are new to Denton.

Let’s face it: we’re creatures of habit who tend to visit the same restaurants and bars over and over again. We might even order the same things when we go. There’s no shame in that—it’s how we’re wired. Taste of North Texas presents a great opportunity to shake up your routine and try something different. Whether you’re in the mood for pizza, BBQ, Mexican, deli, or just want to binge on dessert—no judgement here—Taste of North Texas has something for the whole family. You can try something outside your comfort zone, and if you don’t like it, your ticket covers everything, so you can just try something else!

Not only will there be lots of great food and drink for the whole family to enjoy, but you can also feel good about this event knowing that it’s all for a good cause. The proceeds from Taste of North Texas will be going to support the Denton Kiwanis Club, who has been serving northern Denton County since 1921 and has been running a children’s clinic since 1923. Every year, the clinic helps hundreds of children get the health care they need, including prescriptions and dental care. The Denton Kiwanis Club also partners with other organizations focused on serving youth, including the Boy Scouts and the Special Olympics.

Tickets for Taste of North Texas are $15 for adults and $10 for children 7 and up. The event is free for children 6 and under. You can buy them at the Denton Kiwanis Club office at 1001 North Elm Street (call 940-387-6323 for office hours) or at the Discover Denton Welcome Center at 111 West Hickory Street during their normal business hours. Tickets will also be for sale at the mall’s center court during the event. For the latest information on participating vendors, check out the Taste of North Texas Facebook event page.

Taste of North Texas will take place at Golden Triangle Mall on Thursday, March 29th from 5:30 – 8:00 PM. The Denton Kiwanis Club is happy to answer any questions via email at denton.kiwanis@verizon.net.
