Worldwide Instameet 15 will take place over this weekend on March 25th and 26th. The annual event, put together by Instagram co-founder and CEO Kevin Systrom, is an opportunity for Instagram-ers and photographers to come together. In order to celebrate, we are getting together with the folks at People of Denton to co-host a Denton Instameet this Saturday at 3pm. Read on for more details!
For those not in the know, an Instameet is a meeting of folks that use the photography-centered social media app, Instagram. The event is an opportunity for Instagramers to meet in person, network, explore, and create some great photography to share on the app. You can read more on how Instagram likes for the events to go in their community page. We've hosted Instameets in town before and always had a great time.
As Worldwide Instameet 15 is actually Kevin Systrom's, the founder of Instagram, event, he calls some of the shots. In doing so, he appoints a theme for every Instameet. This year's theme is "kindness."
"Every day, one of the largest and most diverse communities in the world comes together on Instagram. By enabling people to share who they truly are in an inclusive, welcoming environment, I believe that Instagram can be the most supportive global community. On the weekend of March 25 and 26, join tens of thousands of people around the world to share, explore and celebrate while spreading kindness," Systrom said.
Our Instameet will take place this Saturday afternoon at 3pm. We will meet on the east side of Denton County Courthouse lawn. We will hang out for a few minutes and give everyone a chance to meet and chat before venturing out to take photos. So please come hang out and take some photos with us and People of Denton on Saturday afternoon. Show up with your iPhone, DSLR, Polaroid, large camera obscura, or whatever camera you've got handy. Oh, and make sure to have some kindness in your heart, as well. The founder of Instagram said so.
