DIME FEATURED MAKER: KIMBERLY BIEN OF SALTED SANCTUARY
Sometimes art is a hereditary thing, and for Kimberly Bien of Salted Sanctuary. We remember the days when this column used to be filled with photos of tacos and lattes. While we're happy that our photographic lineup has grown up, we can't say that we aren't sad at the lack of taco goodness in the #WDDI feed lately. What happened Denton? Have you fallen out of taco love? Are tacos no longer "cool?" Do the most recent VSCO filters not look that great when hoisted upon a fresh-made corn tortilla? Whatever the case, we better move on. We're getting too hungry.
What We Did is our weekly roundup of photos that WDDI staff and readers have taken over the past seven days. We've got 21 of our favorite images from the past week in Denton, TX below. And what a week it was. We saw Harvest House get to capacity for that famous-fella-who-wears-that-cool-hat's magazine party. The city started prepping hard for Oaktopia round 3. Oh, and North Texas Giving Day was another resounding success. Check out photos from these events and more in the posts below.
If you'd like to be included in What We Did, tag your images with #WDDI on Instagram, and check back here next Monday. As always, we're limited in the photos we can post, but we encourage you to search the hashtag #WDDI and check out all of the other awesome photos that we were unable to include this week. No one told us the GOP debate was going to last 3 hours so this is coming in a little late and with a little commentary. The good news is we live in Denton, a city where it’s very easy to find a cause or initiative to get behind and effect real change in our community. Today is North Texas Giving Day and some of us will be out on the square raising money for at-risk children, the homeless, the hungry, and many other sources of need that are right in our community. Imagine if the same amount of energy spent in the next few hours in Denton on social media things such as the debate went into trying to solve the issue of students showing up to Denton ISD schools hungry because they aren’t fed at home.

So that recent Instagram update has really tinkered around with the looks of What We Did. We love the new non-square images and the higher resolution makes us even happier. So, keep up the good work, y'all!
What We Did is our weekly roundup of photos that WDDI staff and readers have taken over the past seven days. We've got 21 of our favorite images from the past week in Denton, TX below. In this group, we've got plenty of scenes from Saturday's car show on the square, Gathering Day at Weldon's, and much more. It was a busy week, to say the least. The sub 95 temps had Dentonites outdoors in droves and we were all less sweaty and smelly than we have been for the past three months.

Friday's can sometimes be the doldrums at work. If you work in an office, you're probably sneaking in some Reddit or Youtube time (or your personal favorite time waster) in between spreadsheets and .psd's. Heck, maybe you work retail and have to do all of that on your mobile device. Maybe you're actually getting work done (bless you, hard worker). We're gonna focus on the lazy ones, though. Here are three local videos for your watching pleasure.

Is winter here yet? Probably not, but guess what is: Arts Antiques and Autos! Be prepared to not park on the square overnight this Friday or you will be publicly shamed, picked up and moved, maybe even towed to make way for the 200+ vintage car entries that are expected. The weather will be perfect and it will be up to you whether you take advantage of it or not. It’s late.

We often find ourselves thinking that Denton needs more great restaurants. Mostly this is because Denton just plain old needs more great restaurants. Now, don't get us wrong. This isn't a slam to our current restaurant scene, but as a person who eats out a good deal, less is not more when it comes to choosing where to have dinner. We have often caught ourselves saying, "we need more restaurants, just not more pizza or burgers," but boy were we wrong. Pizza Snob, Denton's newest dough and cheese slinger, just opened off the square on Hickory St. at the base of H Squared. If you haven't been yet, head over the check them out. If you want to know what they're up to and what to try, read on.
