Well, fall is officially here. We don't have SAD or anything, but this dark, rainy weather is kinda bumming us out. At least it made for a set of gloomy, cloud-filled photos this week.
Below are 21 photos from the past seven days of life in Denton, TX.

What We Did is our weekly roundup of photos that WDDI staff and readers have taken over the past seven days. We've got 21 of our favorite images from the past week in Denton, TX below. And what a week it was. We saw future Denton musicians give us a performance at Harvest House, citizens getting in their last climb in at Eureka playground, and plenty of folks celebrating Octoberfest properly on both Oak St. and Walnut St. That wasn't all either. It was a pretty crowded weekend with beautiful weather so we broke our rule and went posted a few more photos than normal.

Okay, the weather folks are whispering about rain and cold fronts later this week. We're hoping that writing about it won't jinx it 'cause we could sure go for some sub-90 temps right about now. Grilling steaks on Labor Day weekend when the thermometer is buzzing around 100 ain't too fun. Anyway, here's a day late What We Did (it isn't a dollar short, though). We took Labor Day off to eat some baked dough with cheese at Pizza Snob.

We took a few rides with Denton's local pick-up service, Wandervan, loved what the whole experience. You can check out those exploits here. By now you've probably seen owner/driver, Jason Upshaw's bright blue van all over town. We got the dude to talk with us a bit about his business, his vintage van collection, and his plans for Wandervan. Read on for more!

Last Friday we had ourselves a spur of the moment contest. We were headed to The Green Zatar for the first column in our upcoming Hole in the Wall series and we were discussing the best way to get there from the square when we decided to pit ride share/transportation services Uber and Wandervan against one another.
Uber is the "world's largest taxi company," and was valued at 18.2 billion by investors a few months ago. They opened up their oft-infamous ride sharing program in Denton earlier this year. Wandervan, the local, vintage-friendly upstart owned and operated by Jason Upshaw, showed up a few months later. The latter is a lot more obvious to spot riding around town. We downloaded both apps, headed out to the sidewalk on the downtown Denton Square and called up some cars. Below is some story from the night accompanied by tweets from our live-tweeting session. You can search the hashtag #WDDIdrives on Twitter for more info. It ended up with a sick PhD getting free ice cream, because that's just how life is. Read on for more.
