Once again, Thin Line’s strategic planning and hopeful execution made waves across Downtown Denton this weekend for Thin Line X. The free festival featured documentary films, live music, and photography and somehow managed to do a great job with all three. We had a wonderful time at the festival this year. Here’s a quick recap on what we managed to catch this weekend and why Thin Line X was one of the best festival experiences we have ever had.

Whoa. People. Slow down, y’all. Tap those brakes. No need to have a public meltdown because there are so many things happening with Denton life. We get it, this town is awesome. But at a certain point, we have to resign ourselves to Taoist level intensities because admit it, we can’t do every single thing in our top ten list.

Thin Line's plan is simple: Take all of the photography, music and film that make our city, state and country vibrant, and put it all one place for five days in April. Oh, and did I mention it’s free? Okay, maybe it’s not so simple after all.

Thin Line is the annual Denton festival that features documentary films, live music, and photography. Heck, it is the only festival in Texas to offer all of those things in one neat package. This year marks the event's tenth anniversary and with it come a few changes. For one, this year's festival will take place over five days during the month of April (April 19th - 23rd, to be exact). The music lineup for this year's festival has already been announced and looks to be amazing. 2017 is sure to be the biggest for the festival yet, oh and did we mention that it is free? Yup, all you have to do is register. One thing that has us particularly excited is the recent news that the photography component of Thin Line is expanding in 2017. Read on to find out why we are super pumped about the photography component of this year's Thin Line Fest.

Y’all, it’s pretty much the most important day of the year and we can’t really think of anything past stuffing ourselves with all the wassail we can handle and watching our beloved Christmas Tree get lit as well. There will be the ultimate tagging opportunity at the lighting, so be there and tag your faces off.

Welcome to What We Did, our photo round-up that is posted every Monday morning featuring photos from the past week - and what a week it was.
The Denton festival season is well underway now, y'all. Thin Line kicked it off in a big way. We aren't sure about y'all, but we had a great time (and we expect you did, too). In the middle of it, we ate way too much food at Juicy Pig so expect a post on that later on this week.
Below, are a bunch of photos tagged with #WDDI on Instagram (from both y'all and We Denton Do It contributors). Check them out for some instant nostalgia from the past week.
If you'd like to be included in What We Did, tag your images with #WDDI on Instagram, and check back here next Monday. Click the images below to be led back to the photographer's Instagram page where you can follow them and become BFFs.

THIN LINE PICKS AND PEEKS 2016
Get your movie reviewing thumbs ready, y'all - Thin Line is back! The festival started out strictly as a documentary film festival, but has gone on in the years since to include music, photography, and all sorts of classes/workshops, as well. It has become a fixture of the Denton festival circuit. Needless to say, there's plenty to do in downtown Denton for the next five days. Some WDDI contributors took a moment to comb through all of the activities happening during this year's Thin Line festival and picked out some of our "can't miss" events (many of which are free). You can check out the program for the entirety of the festival here and let us know what you're gonna hit up in the comments.

As you find your self staring down the barrel of another Valentines Day, consider these events for your weekend plans. All of them have been painstakingly hand-picked for quality and diversity. The most important event this coming week is the 64th House District Republican Primary Debate we’re hosting at Dan’s Silverleaf on Monday at 7PM. City councilman Kevin Roden will moderate and Glen Farris will keep time. This is a pretty unique event as it is possibly the only debate for the state level position that is open to the public (with access to beer, no less). The event will be live-streamed and we encourage you to come out and check out the candidates, one of which will most likely take the HD64 seat. Take your photos and get in the know, y'all.
Questions, comments, and additions can be sent to glen@wedentondoit.com.
