We had so many photos and tagged photos from the spooky festivities this weekend that we decided they deserved their own What We Did post.
Saturday's coffin races are always our favorite aspect of Halloween in Denton and this year was no slouch. The designs this year were once again amazing and there were over 70 entries. On a sidenote, we love how Pan Ector have basically become the villains of the annual race with their ability to think outside of the box (literally in this case).
The coffin races weren't the only Halloween activity going on this weekend, though. Below, you'll also find photos from costume parties, live music, twilight parade, and a whole bunch of awesome stuff that happened.

It's almost Halloween, you guys. Costume parties, candy corn, and good times are gonna be all over the place before the work week is over. Maybe this is the year you finally stop being the Popeye to your spouse's Olive Oyl costume. Maybe you're tired of being a sexy nurse/politician/ocelot/what-have-you. We figured we'd step in and give you a hand. Here's a list of possible costumes for you to blow the lid off of whichever local costume party you plan on attending. The list is full of suggestions of Denton Halloween-specific costumes and how you can put them together. Got an idea for something we didn't cover? Let us know in the comments!

Sometimes you need a week like the one we just had to help you remember why you love Denton. Watching a large crowd of people standing in the rain to cheer on homemade coffins rolling down Hickory St. is a great Denton pick-me-up. In fact, all of last week was pretty darned awesome. Keep Denton Beautiful gave away a bunch of trees again, we all got together and watched Back to the Future on the courthouse lawn, and then there was Day of the Dead complete with Cirque Du Horror and coffin racing.
What We Did is our weekly roundup of photos that WDDI staff and readers have taken over the past seven days. We've got 17 of our favorite images from the past week in Denton, TX below. The images feature pics from all of the aforementioned events and then some. In fact, y'all took so many great photos from the Day of the Dead festival, that we're splitting today's What We Did into two separate posts. So keep up with the blog today and there will be another photo post later this afternoon.
If you'd like to be included in What We Did, tag your images with #WDDI on Instagram, and check back here next Monday. As always, we're limited in the photos we can post, but we encourage you to search the hashtag #WDDI and check out all of the other awesome photos that get tagged.
