DEN10 APRIL 19, 2018

BY SHAUN TREAT

Oboy, festival season is back in Denton and we couldn’t be more tickled!!  Lots of options and hard choices in delegating your time, but that’s a good problem to have, right? We can try to help you narrow down the options with our top #DEN10 events to check out as y’all are out and about #DENTONING this weekend.

THURSDAY, April 19

Twilight Tunes | Denton County Courthouse On The Square | 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
The Denton Main Street Association is proud to present their award-winning concert series in downtown Denton, kicking-off their spring season on Thursdays with High School Caesar! Admission for every event is FREE, so there is no reason you shouldn’t come out every week! Afterward, music-minded folk should check out the Business Of The Arts series at DMAC or the LGBTQ Social at Harvest House.

Thin Line Film Fest: Elk River Sessions | Downtown Denton | 7:00 PM film
We are really pumped about this year’s Thin Line Fest schedule, now bursting with film, music, and photography, and sometimes all 3 at the same time in the much-anticipated Elk River Sessions documentary! After the film, the band reunites at Dan’s for a show. Peruse the TLF full Thursday thru Sunday fest schedule here and preview some of our picks for Short Films and Feature Films. Spoiler Alert: there are no bad choices.

FRIDAY, April 20

The Carl Finch Sound | LSA Burger | 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
You may’ve read about Brave Combo’s Carl Finch being inducted into the International Polka Association Hall of Fame last year, but didja know his new band reimagines some of the old Brave Combo standards as well as offering brand new, never-before-heard music? Listen for yourself with the prettiest rooftop view in town.

Swing Dancing | Green Space Arts Collective | 8:00 PM – 12:00 Midnight
Get into the swing of things with swing lessons and a social dance, which tend to happen on the first and third Friday of every month. Heckuva fun way to get in some cardio!

Concert for Puerto Rico | Backyard On Bell | 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM
An evening with three bands and one great cause.

4/20 Show | J&J’s Pizza ODB | 8:00 PM - 11:59 PM
Yeah so it's 4/20 and the Ole Dirty Basement celebrates with music and comedy. We know Beto O’Rourke is schmoozing at UNT earlier in the day, which seems totally unrelated. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
